1. Explore the MetLink maps of the UK, Europe and the World.

Which MetLink participant is furthest north? south? inland?

How might global location affect the climate of a place?


2. Use the MetLink database to find weather data and climographs for:

 


3. Visit the MetLink home page and find today's weather extremes (place, country and figure)


4. Search the MetLink database and select the weekly data for one school and copy/print the climograph.

Write a brief description of the climograph.

Choose a contrasting place and copy/print the climograph.

Descrine the differences between the 2 climographs. Suggest possible reasons.


5. Study the Weathercam pictures

Choose the MetLink location where you would a) most and b) least like to visit.

Give reasons for your choice. Find out more about your chosen location.


6. Pick a MetLink location and prepare a weather forecast for the next 24 hours.

7. Visit the NASA Earth Observatory and NOAA Daily News to find out about the latest weather events and satellite images around the world. Write a brief report on a weather event in the news.


8. Your task is to prepare a report on a weather hazard (perhaps using PowerPoint) eg

Gales, Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Floods, Lightning, Hail, Cold and Ice, Snow and Blizzards, Ice Storms, Icebergs, Fog, Smog, Fire, Heat, Drought.

- some pictures of the weather hazard.

- a location map.

- describe and explain why the hazard occurs?

- it's impact?

- possible solutions?
