The wind has remained from the north and northwest all week giving us the cold conditions that we've had. We finally had a surprise snow fall this morning although it evaporated as quick as it came since it was only a dusting. Possible snow storm coming this weekend.

We are having gusty wind conditions. The highest gust we had today was 38 kph. We've had a few light flurries during the day. This is the first day in several weeks where we really needed a winter coat outside. Winter has returned!

First sunny day in a while. Groundhog saw his shadow. This is a popular legend in our area. If the groundhog sees his shadow there will be six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't see his shadow spring is just around the corner. We of course know this is just another fun weather story.

We woke to very dense fog overnight. However, at lunch time today the fog cleared and we had some sun this afternoon. Now it is starting to cloud over again.

We had a massive temperature change over the past 24 hours. We walked home from school yesterday holding our jackets and this afternoon the wind chill made it feel like -7 degrees. The overnight rain quickly changed to a blowing snow storm. It did not really stick to the ground, however, since the ground had absorbed so much energy the day before.

We've had 5 cm of snow today. This is a late winter storm for us. Most of February was dry. We had a brief period of sleet and freezing rain during the afternoon. It is expected to snow right into the evening.

30mm of wet snow recorded and ending at time of observation. First day in many weeks that the temperature is finally getting near the freezing mark. We've been in a deep freeze for most of January. Humidity has been very dry until today as well.
