Consultant Teacher Wanted

Help Improve Weather and Climate Resources for KS3 Geography

The Royal Meteorological Society is looking for an experienced secondary geography teacher to work with us over the summer. We would like this person to

  • Audit and assess the KS3 resources we currently have on offer to teachers through our website, MetLink, and help us to restructure and promote them better
  • Rewrite at least two of the resources, introducing teaching best practice and generally making them high quality, highly accessible, highly relevant and generally as usable as possible for teachers.
  • Terms and Conditions

  • The teacher will be paid £1,000 on satisfactory completion of the project, which it is anticipated will be 5 days’ work in the week of 7-11 August, 2017.
  • The teacher should be able to work at the Royal Meteorological Society in Reading on at least the 7th and 11th August – the other days could be worked remotely. The teacher will be expected to cover their own travel costs and provide their own equipment.
  • Applications should be emailed to Sylvia Knight, Head of Education at the Royal Meteorological Society (sylvia.knight@rmets.org) by 23rd June, 2017. Applications can be brief, but should contain full employment and education history, one example of a piece of written work (this could be a detailed lesson plan, article or similar but should demonstrate the ability to teach different ability levels) and a very brief explanation of why you think you are the right person for this work.
  • The successful applicant will be asked to provide details of one referee.
